The CSE PTA Executive Board consists of elected and appointed officers who serve a one year term. Board members work together to support the mission and purposes of our local, council, state, and national PTAs. Each officer is responsible for specific duties or areas of work, as described in the CSE PTA Bylaws.

Nominations are now being accepted for candidates for PTA officer positions for the 2025-2026 school year! Please review the below information and indicate any roles you may be interested in. This form can also be used to nominate anyone who you believe would be a good candidate for a board role.
The deadline to submit nominations is March 24th.
Who can serve?
Anyone who will be a member of the Cypress Springs Elementary PTA for 2025-2026 may serve as an officer. Good candidates for PTA officers are adults who are knowledgeable about PTA, willing to attend ongoing training provided by PTA, and have prior experience with PTA or other organizational work. We are seeking ethical candidates, who are enthusiastic about public education, and Cypress Springs Elementary specifically, and who can make PTA a priority in their schedule.
PTA Board Term Limits
Board officers are elected to a one-year term. Elected officers may not serve more than two consecutive terms in the same office. Current board members may self-nominate for a second term, and must participate in the nominations process.

To make every child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.
PTA POSITIONS
President
Coordinates board efforts and officers, presides at PTA meetings, attends PTA District Council meetings, works closely with the Principal as well as all board members, and is an official member of all PTA committees. The President supports and guides board members and committee members as needed throughout the year.
Secretary
Attends and records meeting minutes of all CSE PTA Board and membership meetings. The Secretary keeps track of various records and helps prepare a portion of the financial reconciliation. The Secretary must have access to a computer. Experience with Google Drive is recommended. Please note: the Secretary has traditionally been responsible for the school yearbook, which requires more than 5 hours per month. The hope is to create a yearbook committee to spread the responsibility out over a larger group of volunteers, making the task more manageable. Time commitment: Approximately 5 hours per month (exclusive of meetings.).
Treasurer
Attends all CSE PTA Board and membership meetings. Keeps permanent records of all monetary transactions. Duties include ordering items for PTA, writing checks for activities and reimbursement, filing tax paperwork to maintain non-profit status, paying state taxes, reconciling books monthly to keep track of all transactions, as well as making timely deposits to the CSE PTA bank account. The treasurer is also responsible for proposing budget amendments and explaining them to the general membership at meetings. Experience with QuickBooks is recommended, but not required. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented and able to prioritize workloads as needed. Time commitment: Approx. 5 hours per month (exclusive of meetings)
VP Membership
Attends monthly board and membership meetings. Oversees PTA membership plan, recruits members, and applies for monthly PTA membership awards. Hosts back-to-school breakfast for parents the first week of school, and helps with membership recruitment at various school events. Provides room parent training and coordinates communications with room parents. Time commitment: busiest at the beginning of the school year and approximately 1-2 hours per week depending on programming.
VP Fundraising
Attends monthly board and membership meetings. Supports and oversees spirit wear and fundraising efforts throughout the year, including Fall Fest and a spring fundraiser. Time commitment: Busy periods throughout the year.
VP Hospitality
Attends monthly board and membership meetings. Coordinates PTA Meeting Refreshments, a Teacher Welcome Back Breakfast, a Thanksgiving Teacher Lunch, a Holiday Sweet Shop, Field Day Snacks, Teacher Appreciation Week, STAAR Snacks, and Fun Fridays in October and February. This is a key role as the teachers look forward to our hospitality events all year!
VP Programs
Attend monthly board and membership meetings. Oversees Kinder Signing Day, partners with VP Fundraising on Fall Fest and Spring Fundraiser. Also works on the Talent Show, Cultures Around the World night, and other ongoing educational and community engagement opportunities for the CSE community.
VP Enrichments
Attend monthly board and membership meetings. Oversees PTA Reflections, STEAM/Art Appreciation, Book Fairs, and Spelling Bee. Time Commitment: Heavier work around enrichment events throughout the year.
