WATCH D.O.G.S.® (Dads Of Great Students) is a nationally recognized, family and community engagement initiative that helps schools welcome positive male role models onto campus.
The primary goal is simple yet powerful: to enhance the learning environment for every student by providing an extra set of eyes and ears, and by demonstrating that education is important to all community members.
Watch D.O.G.S. are fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other father-figures who dedicate their time to make a profound, positive impact on a student's life.
By their presence, these volunteers help:
Provide Positive Male Role Models: For students who may not have a father-figure at home, or to simply diversify the positive influences in the school setting.
Enhance School Security: Providing an extra, friendly presence in hallways, at entrances, and on playgrounds to help deter bullying and promote a greater sense of security.
When a Watch D.O.G. volunteers, they follow a schedule designed to maximize their interaction with students across all grade levels. Their day is dynamic, rewarding, and deeply impactful!
Typical volunteer activities include:
Assisting with morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up traffic.
Monitoring hallways and the lunchroom.
Reading with students or helping with flashcards in the classroom.
Supervising playground and recess activities.
Eating lunch with their student and other children.
Working alongside teachers on special projects.
While the core mission of Watch D.O.G.S. is to intentionally engage men who are often underrepresented in school volunteer roles, we recognize that our success is often supported by dedicated women!
We proudly honor these indispensable helpers as M.O.M.S. (Moms of Marvelous Students). Whether they are coordinating programs, serving as leaders, or filling a volunteer role, their commitment to their students and our school is undeniable.
Are moms allowed to volunteer? Absolutely! We welcome the support of all marvelous parent and guardian figures who want to help our students succeed.
